This past Saturday I was privileged to shoot the wedding of Heather and Christopher. They’re such a laid back, easy going couple and their wedding definitely reflected that. The ceremony and reception were at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill. It’s one of my favorite churches in the area to shoot at because it’s so open and airy inside with beautiful natural light, and it’s right on Franklin Street which is great for more urban shots. Rather than have an long, elaborate reception, Heather and Christopher decided to have something more casual with a simple fruit and dessert buffet. Family, friends and food, who needs more? I thought it suited them perfectly. And because the reception was fairly short, we were able to wait until it was over to do our portrait session and take our time with it. Here’s a few highlights from the day:
Guys have it so easy! Do you think they have any idea at all of everything that we put ourselves through to look great the day of our wedding? : )
Heather was incredibly laid back for a bride on the day of her wedding. If there were any nerves, she sure didn’t show it! You have to love the hot pink hair dryer!
Rather than having matching dresses, all of Heather’s ladies were dressed in different shades of pink:
Heather’s bridesmaids did a little dance in the parking lot to scuff up the bottom of their shoes:
Heather and her ladies getting ready:
I absolutely love this shot of the ring bearer sitting next to the two flower girls! This little guy was absolutely adorable and had the cutest expressions!:
Isn’t the church pretty?:
The Happy Couple:
Because their reception was fairly short, we decided to wait until it was over to do our portrait session. I’m sure those of you who went to UNC will recognize this bench!:
I think there’s something so beautiful in the simplicity of an all white bouquet:
Because it was so hot that day, we decided to go back inside the church to do most of our portraits. There are twin staircases there with the most beautiful natural light:
Doesn’t she look gorgeous?:
Although this a different angle for a portrait, I love the geometrical lines that the stairway creates to frame Heather and Christopher:
Congratulations again, you two!
