Jessica and Levi’s wedding reminded me a lot of my: small and intimate, just immediate family and a few friends. The wedding was at the top of Sugar Mountain at Banner Elk, NC. Jessica and Levi wanted to take advantage of the beautiful fall foliage and the views from on top of Sugar Mountain are phenomenal. When I arrived to begin shooting getting ready shots, I found this beautiful turn down setting supplied by the staff of the resort:

Our plan had been to take advantage of theviews and fall foliage for our portraits, but as we got closer to the ceremony, it began to get colder and windier. So instead, we did bridal portraits inside and got these beautiful images:
When the ceremony began, a huge cloud settled on us and it went from feeling like we were on top of the world to being the only ones in the world. It intensified the feeling of intimacy and focused everything on the ceremony itself:
I love it when people are so obviously moved by the vows they are taking:
At the end of the ceremony the weather continued to be uncooperative and was starting to drizzle. We went back into the trees for both protection from the rain and the wind (it was cold! Brrrr!). We still were able to use the fall color and you can’t tell that it was going to pour at any moment. I love Jessica’s sunflower in amongst the color of the leaves:
Got to love cowboy boots!
